College Golf Experience

What is a CGX Prospect Camp?

CGX Prospect Camps are hosted by one college or university's golf program, giving junior golfers ages 12–18 an inside look at what it means to be a college golfer at that school. Over two days, players train at the program's facilities, practice alongside the coaching staff, and experience college golf the way current players do — on the course, in training sessions and during seminars.

Train at the same facilities and experience the same practice sessions that the program's college golfers participate in every season. There's no better way to understand what college golf at this school actually looks like than by living it firsthand alongside the coaches who run it.

John Sjoberg

Men's Head Coach

Emory University · DIII

Coach Sjoberg has led Emory to nine UAA Championships and eight straight NCAA Championships appearances, earning UAA Coaching Staff of the Year honors seven times. His program produced Emory's first-ever Jack Nicklaus Award winner and has developed multiple PING All-Americans each season. He has been a finalist for the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award multiple times and serves on the NCAA National Golf Committee.

Sarah Butler

Men's Assistant Coach

Emory University · DIII

Coach Butler joined the Emory staff prior to the spring of 2025 and helped mentor three PING All-Americans, including First Teamer Kevin Mu, as the Eagles finished third at the NCAA Championships. Before Emory, she spent time as a caddie on the LPGA Tour — including a trip to the winner's circle at the 2023 Dow Great Lakes Invitational — and held assistant coaching roles at Iowa State, Old Dominion, and Colorado State. Butler played four years professionally and competed collegiately at the University of Minnesota.

8:15 A.M. | Campus Tour with Coach Sjoberg

9:30 A.M. | Drive to Smoke Rise Country Club, 4900 Chedworth Drive Stone Mountain, GA 30087 (Players and parents transport themselves)

10:15 A.M. | College Golf Practice Session – Skill Stations and Challenges (Putting, Short Game, Range)

12:15 P.M. | Player Lunch with Coaches

1:15 P.M. | College Golf Practice Round (Tee Times) with On-Course Coach Engagement, Course Management and Strategy Lessons, and Real-Time Feedback

6:00 P.M. | Player Dinner with Coaches

Camp adjourns following Dinner

8:00 A.M. | College Golf and Recruiting Seminar

9:00 A.M. | College Golf Tournament Round (Tee Times) with On-Course Coach Engagement, Course Management and Strategy Lessons, and Real-Time Feedback
