Drew Dickens, CGX Player & TJGT Tournament Champion, shares his camp experience:

Drew Dickens has attended multiple CGX camps, including the SMU Prospect Camp and TJGT Tournament Prep Development Camps. After working directly with College Coaches and applying what he’s learned, Drew earned 1st place at the TJGT San Antonio Summer Blast.

In his own words:

🎥 “CGX has taught me so much — from short game work to pressure drills. It’s helped me feel confident under pressure, hit my shots when it matters, and even bring new drills back to help my team.”

A great opportunity to help families who are new to the process and, because they are all specifically interested and mostly qualified for our type of school, the time was well spent.

Everything my son heard from the College Coach at camp was taken to heart, and I’ve referred to my notes often throughout this process.

FAQ's

Can a player communicate with College Coaches at Golf Camps before the June 15 deadline?

Yes. College Golf Camps are the only place where junior golfers and their families can have permissible in-person communication with College Coaches before June 15 of sophomore year. These camps are also the only opportunity to receive college coaching during the entire recruiting process — making them essential for learning, development, and exposure.

Is CGX a good fit for my ability level?

Yes. CGX camps are designed for aspiring college golfers of all competitive levels, ages 11–18. Whether you’re playing high-level junior tournaments or just starting to build your resume, our format helps players gain clarity, improve prep habits, and understand what it takes to play at the next level.

How should I pick my Tournament Prep Development Camp?

We recommend attending a camp that:

  • Aligns with a tournament you’re already playing (for course prep),

  • Features College Coaches from programs you’re interested in, or

  • Fits your travel/location preferences.

All CGX camps offer hands-on feedback, small-group access to coaches, and a chance to build confidence through on-course learning.

Are parents allowed to attend CGX Camps?

Yes. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend! You’ll have the opportunity to listen in on coach Q&As, observe on-course instruction, and gain valuable insight into what College Coaches expect. Many families say it’s just as educational for them as it is for their player.

What’s included in a Tournament Prep Development Camp?

Camps include a practice round with on-course coaching, yardage book, group strategy session, and coach interaction. Specifics may vary slightly by location — check the camp page for full details.

What should I bring to the camp?

Players should bring:

  • Full set of golf clubs

  • Golf attire

  • Rangefinder (if available)

  • Snacks & water

  • Notebook to take notes

  • Positive attitude and questions for the coaches!
