KORY HENKES | WOMEN’S HEAD COACH | 2021 NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS | OLE MISS
Kory Henkes was named head coach of the Ole Miss women’s golf team on June 22, 2015 and is entering her seventh season at the helm of the Ole Miss program in 2021-22.
Season six was a monumental one for Henkes at the helm of the team, as she helped lead the Rebels to the 2021 NCAA National Championship. The title marked the first ever Ole Miss women’s team NCAA National Championship in school history, while also marking the university’s first national championship since the football team’s 1962 win.
The team saw seniors Julia Johnson and Kennedy Swann both earn WGCA All-American honors at the conclusion of their title winning season in 2020-21, with Johnson being named onto the first team and Swann receiving honorable mention recognition.
With her national championship winning team beside her, Kory Henkes became the first Rebel head coach to be named as the WGCA National Coach of the Year, and just the seventh SEC coach to receive the award since its inception in 1984.
BLAINE WOODRUFF | MEN’S ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH | 2021 NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS | PEPPERDINE
Blaine Woodruff has helped the Pepperdine men’s golf team reach the pinnacle, as the Waves won the national championship in 2021 and were the nation’s #1-ranked team in 2020. The program’s associate head coach is in his fifth year with the Waves in 2021-22.
In his first two seasons at Pepperdine, Woodruff helped guide the Waves to the 2018 and 2019 West Coast Conference titles, and to an 11th-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championships (at the time the program’s best result since 2004).
Although the Waves weren’t given the chance to defend their conference crown in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in the cancelation of the spring season, the Waves were recognized as the nation’s top team in the Bushnell Golfweek coaches poll and by Golfstat. He also worked with Pepperdine’s first National Player of the Year in Sahith Theegala, who won the Ben Hogan, Fred Haskins and Jack Nicklaus awards.
Woodruff and the Waves won the NCAA title in 2021, one of a program-record six victories. He was named a finalist for the GCAA’s Jan Strickland Award as the nation’s top assistant coach.
LAURA IANELLO | WOMEN’S HEAD COACH | 2021 NCAA NATIONAL SEMI-FINALISTS | ARIZONA
By cementing a legacy as one of the top coaches in the country at her alma mater, Laura Ianello has established Arizona Women’s Golf as a national power with an unrivaled postseason pedigree of success and championships. A national champion for the Wildcats as a player in 2000, Ianello has also added to the program’s legacy by guiding Arizona to the 2018 national championship as head coach.
Ianello completed one of her top coaching jobs in the shortened 2020-21 season during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Arizona overcame late returns from international players, injuries and the uncertainty of college sports to make the NCAA Championships for a 23rd time in program history. Not only did the team reach NCAA’s, Arizona became the only program in the nation to reach the semifinals of match play in the 2018, 2019 and 2021 NCAA Championships. The Wildcats’ dramatic, made-for-tv run through stroke play and match play in Scottsdale came in the program’s eighth trip to the NCAA Championships in Ianello’s 11th season as head coach.
The 2010 and 2019 Pac-12 Coach of the Year has also developed student-athletes into the elite levels of collegiate success. Yu-Sang Hou became a three-time WGCA All-American in 2021 giving Arizona five student-athletes receiving eight All-America honors during Ianello’s tenure at the helm of the program.
ARMEN KIRAKOSSIAN | Men's Associate Head Coach | ARIZONA STATE
Armen Kirakossian joined Matt Thurmond’s staff as assistant coach on August 1, 2017, and after just two years was promoted to Associate Head Coach.
ASU’s 2018-19 season included four team wins, six individual wins, a PING First-Team All-American (Chun An Yu) and six second-place finishes. Cameron Sisk earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, while Matt Thurmond earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year. The Sun Devils won three straight tournaments with a different Sun Devil winning each event in March and April. They won the Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Course on April 12-13 with a 20-under 832, shot 50-under on March 18-19 to win the National Invitational in Tucson, won the San Diego Lamkin Grips Classic on March 11-12 (10-under 854 and the John Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 21-13 shooting a 24-under 840.
In 2019, Kirakossian was honored as the Top Assistant in the Nation by GCAA and TaylorMade. Later in the year he was also selected as an Assistant Coach for the 2020 Palmer Cup team.
